South Pacific at the Alexandra Theatre Birmingham #Review

Chichester Festival Theatre’s critically acclaimed, landmark production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific comes to Birmingham’s Alexandra Theatre from Tuesday 27th September – Saturday 1st October 2022. This powerful love story, which is set on a South Pacific island during World War ll, is brought thrillingly to life in an epic new five star production directed by Chichester Festival Theatre’s Artistic Director Daniel Evans

Julian Ovenden and Gina Beck reprise their roles from the Chichester Festival Theatre production, and lead a sensational cast of over thirty very talented others, including Rob Houchen, Joanna Ampil and Sera Maehara. It features a full orchestra and this ravishing musical is set to be the must see theatrical event of the year. It’s truly wonderful.

South Pacific is a beautiful love story which sees the trials and tribulations of several budding relationships. It’s a story of love and differences, war and heartbreak. It’s such a gorgeous story that you’re sure to fall in love with just like I did last night. ALthough this love story is full of passionate embraces and colourful language, there’s also lots of moments of joy and laughter to be shared. The dancing is superb and the singing is just amazing.

I’d not heard of this story before, so it was all new to me, but I had the most wonderful night and am sure to remember this story forever. Watching it brought to life last night up on that stage was just magical. It was like watching an old American movie, it was delightful.

Tickets are still available if you’d like to go and see the show this week.

Let me know if you do, as I’d love to see what you thought of it too?
