Beverley Holidays – Our Wonderful Week in Devon.

Devon is a beautiful place, I’ve been many times before but for some reason, the kids have never been. Maybe it’s the long car journey that had had put us off or maybe it was just one of those things. Either way, the reason didn’t really matter as it was about to be put right.

It’s been a whirlwind of a week but we’ve had such an amazing time and I can’t wait to tell you all about it. We’ve only been back home two days now and already I can feel those dreaded ‘Holiday Blues’. That’s the thing about Holidays, they make you want more.

Our adventures this week took us to Beverley Holidays in Devon. The story behind the park is such a lovely one. It all started with the dream of just one man, a builder and caravan enthusiast Joseph Stanley Jeavons and his wife Marion who had a dream of opening a caravan site in Torbay in sunny South Devon. Their dream officially begun when Beverley Holidays, formerly known as Beverley Park, opened its doors to happy holidaymakers in search of sun and sea air in 1959 with just 10 caravans, a few tents and a shop – with the famous Beverley Sisters as the inspiration for its name. In 1975, the successful family run holiday park was awarded five-star status, an accolade which at the time had only be bestowed upon four other parks in England. Marking its 60th anniversary last year in 2018, Beverley Holidays today offers a wide range of holiday caravans, sea view lodges, touring and camping pitches and privately owned holiday homes. Although things may have changed a lot over the years, one thing remains the same, their family of holidays parks are still very much a family business, with Beverley Holidays now in its 3rd generation of the Jeavons family. With family at the heart of their business, it’s perfect for families like mine.

We were spoilt rotten and made to feel like VIP’s staying in this fabulous Platinum Hot Tub Caravan. We’ve stayed in caravans before but never anything quite like this. This took caravans to a whole new level. Made to sleep 6 people comfortably, it had 3 bedrooms. One double room and 2 single rooms which were all a good size with beds fully made up for you.

Each room had lovely comfortable beds, some of the best we’ve ever slept in whilst away. Central heating throughout so we were always nice and warm and to our amazement, a flat screen Digital TV in every room. The kids were so excited, they’ve never had their own TV’s before so this was a real treat for them at night time as they got to watch them in bed to wind down. The TV’s came in handy as we decided not to pay for WIFI in our caravan. We don’t mind having to pay a small charge for WIFI in the caravan’s but with free WIFI in all the main buildings we decided to keep our caravan a WIFI free zone to spend more time as a family. The kids didn’t seem to mind as they were having way too much fun to miss it.

There were two bathrooms which is always a plus and a large fully fitted kitchen with an integrated fridge freezer, cafetière & coffee machine, microwave & toaster and even a lovely tea & coffee Welcome Pack to help you get started upon arrival which was a lovely touch.

The living area was very large and spacious with plenty of seating for everyone. The large windows let in so much light that it always felt light and airy inside. It was super homely.

The Platinum Hot Tub Caravan’s really do have everything you need and more.

The highlight of our holiday had to be the Hot Tub! The kids were so excited as they’d never really been in a ‘proper’ Hot Tub before as public ones often set age restrictions of 16 and over so they’re not allowed in. The Hot Tub rules at Beverley Holidays allow children 8 and over on their guidelines which was perfect for us with Ryan being 8 and Lily being 12.

The Hot Tub was right outside our caravan on our beautiful sundeck area which even had its own table & chairs. We found ourselves in the Hot Tub before breakfast, after lunch and even after dark as you’re allowed in the Hot Tub anytime between the hours of 8am and 11pm. With different levels of massage you could control the amount of bubbles which was fun and at night time there were lights to really bring it to life, it was like a underwater disco.

With such a beautiful caravan and our very own Hot Tub it was hard to get the kids to leave to do anything else but luckily we managed to drag them away every now and again as there was so much to do and so little time to do it all in. Beverley Park’s facilities include an outdoor play area which I have to hold my hands up and say we didn’t manage to find (oops) an indoor soft play, plus an amusement arcade, crazy golf course and outdoor and indoor heated pool where you can relax in the sauna, steam room, hot tub and gym.

The park was really quite throughout our stay which was so lovely. We were able to slow things down a bit and just enjoy spending time together which was really nice. It got a little busier towards the end of our stay as we moved into the second week of Easter. The whole place was just so lovely, it had the most amazing Sea views and stunning Sunrises and Sunsets. We may not have had the best weather for our week as it rained on and off for the first two days but at least it wasn’t cold. We would have enjoyed ourselves no matter the weather anyway, the rain wouldn’t stop us. Beverley Park is located at the top of a hill right in the middle of two beautiful places to visit, Paighton is on one side with it’s funfairs and arcades whilst and Brixham is on the other with it’s beautiful Harbour and historic town.

We spent a day in each of them and loved them both!

Whilst our days were filled with seaside adventures and family fun, it wasn’t quite over yet as our evening were also a blast. Every night we headed to the Starlight Bar which is their main entertainment venue. It was only a 2 minute walk from our caravan which was perfect.

Each night begins with the Beverley and Sandy Shakedown which is a fun filled dance show with the Beverley Holidays Mascots. Throughout the first half of the evening the kids get to join in their adventure Shows which are full of fun, laughter and downright silliness.

The shows were really good, we stayed and watched a few of them throughout the week.

The entertainment team were all fantastic, so talented and so friendly. We loved the Freddie Fever show on the Thursday night, that really had us clapping along and joining in.

There were so many activities available that we couldn’t possibly have done everything so we just did what we could. We took our week slowly and savoured every day, so many memories have been made from this amazing place. A happy place we will never forget.

There were lots of places to eat out around the park, there’s the Jetty Lounge, Bar & Terrace and The Catch Takeaway. We ate out most days as we were off site when it was mealtimes but we did enjoy a friendly service from the bar each night and enjoyed some of their light snacks (nachos and nuts mainly) every evening whilst we relaxed with the shows.

It’s been such an amazing week, I just wish we’d have stayed a little longer. Our stay was a 5 day stay from Monday to Friday which was lovely but I did feel like we’d missed out of the Cabaret Acts who only come in on the weekends to do their shows but we still had a blast.

I’d not heard of Beverley Holidays before our stay with them but absolutely love them now. If we ever go back to Devon, we know where we’re going to stay – at Beverly Park, of course.
