Luxury Afternoon Tea for Two
at The Belfry with Red Letter Days.
With Mother’s Day coming up later this month, I’ve been looking for things to do with my Mum that she’d enjoy, top of my list of things we love to do is always Afternoon Tea. We’ve been to many places over the past few years and always have such a lovely time so when the lovely people from Red Letter Days offered me the chance to review one of their luxury experiences, I happily obliged. I chose their Luxury Afternoon Tea for Two experience which for £60 offers you a luxury afternoon tea at one of over 60 handpicked UK venues.
Each of these chic and inviting establishments boasts a great location, excellent service and a perfectly luxurious setting in which to unwind and observe a quaint English tradition. Tuck into an indulgent spread (the exact menu varies depending on location) of special sweet treats, delicious cakes, pastries and delicate finger sandwiches, accompanied by a refreshing blend of tea and coffee – some venues even include a glass of bubbly each!
Once I’d purchased my voucher, I then popped my location into their website and choose the one nearest to me which just happened to be in the Belfry Hotel’s Brabazon Bar.
Purchasing and using my Red Letter Days voucher was really easy and quick to do. Once you have your voucher, you simply get in touch with your chosen venu and book yourself in using it. I did my booking by email which was all very straight forward and again, very easy.
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when we visited The Belfry as there’s not a huge amount of information about it on their website. There was plenty of information about times and prices and a brief description of what would be served but that was it really. So, we went along last week not expecting too much really but was pleasantly surprised with the wonderful service we received. From the moment we entered to the moment we left, we were looked after so well. Our waitress was so friendly and chatty and really made us feel welcome. We were shown to our nicely laid out ‘reserved’ table and told all about what was going to happen. We were told that we would be able to have more sandwiches if we were still hungry after we had eaten our first plate which was a first for me. I’ve been to lots of Afternoon Teas and never been offered more sandwiches before which was a nice surprise.
I loved the Creamed Cheese one the best but the Salmon was delicious too. We did have a second plate of sandwiches which was a must as they all just tasted so nice. After the sandwiches, came the scones which were bought out once we were ready for them so that they were served fresh and warm. Again, these were delicious and a lovely little treat to enjoy. As well as the lovely food, The Belfry offered a wide selection of Teas and Coffees but the lady also said we could have any hot drink of our choice so as well as my traditional Tea, I got to enjoy a tasty hot chocolate as well which came in a huge cup that lasted me a while.
At no point did we feel rushed or hurried, The Belfry was very busy with people that afternoon but everyone was so relaxed. The friendly staff were looking after everyone.
Last but not least were the cakes and pastries which looked so pretty. There was a lovely little selection and again, everything tasted really good. I think we spent a total of two hours enjoying our Afternoon Tea and chatting away, which was really lovely. We both had a wonderful time there and would go back again definitely. I’ve already told all my friends and family how lovely it was so they can try it out too as it’s not too far away from where we live.
The little Lemon Cheesecake was my favourite, it was just so yummy.
Afternoon Tea at The Belfry was a very enjoyable experience and one that we hope to do again soon, it was that good.
