Why do holiday prices double during the summer holidays?

Why do holiday prices double during the summer holidays?
It’s really NOT fair!

Every year the prices just go up and up and up! Every year I try and put a little more away so that my kids don’t have to miss out on a very important part of growing up and family bonding. All I want is a caravan somewhere in the UK, not too far from home where there’s a nice beach for my kids to play and build sand castles, is that too much to ask for?

Last year this dream cost me around £500 for a week but when I looked this year the same place, same holiday and same week is now over £600. It’s just now out of my league.

I get so ANGRY when I look through holiday prices, If you look at the price of the week before or the week after the School Summer Holidays you can just see the dramatic drop in prices which is so unfair! We’re not legally allowed to take our children out of school yet now we can’t afford to take them in the public holidays. I really don’t understand why they have to do it. I guess they take on a few more staff but surely that doesn’t mean they have to double or even triple the prices like I’ve seen in some cases. It puts us Mums in such a hard position because I don’t want my kids to miss out on all the fun and joy of a summer holiday but then I don’t want to get myself into debt to take them on one. I feel like SCREAMING!

I remember my childhood holidays, every summer my mum and dad would take us to the seaside and we’d stay in a caravan for a week. We didn’t need fancy hotels or costly amusement parks. All we needed was a beach, some sand and a bit of fun time together.

A small sandcastle sits on a sandy beach, adorned with a miniature Union Jack flag on top. In the background, gentle sea waves roll under a partly cloudy sky. The scene suggests a playful, summery day by the seaside.
We will take a few day trips out at least so that my kids can still see the sea this year. I know they will be happy with whatever we but It’s just the whole “Money Making” madness that is getting to me! It’s unfair that these Holiday Parks and Holiday Companies can charge double for the same holiday just because they know theses are the set weeks that we need to book our holidays in.

I’m sorry for the rant but I just had to get it all out before my head exploded and went POP. I bet most of you Mums feel the same too, It may be way out of our control BUT that doesn’t mean we have to like it! Have you managed to book a “reasonable” priced holiday this year or did you pay the extra and give in to these unreasonable rises??
