Aldi – Food & Drink
It’s been a while since the last time I shopped at my local Aldi but after being sent a lovely hamper of goodies for my family to try last week, I’m starting to think why? Here’s a quick photo of what i was sent:
Lots of lovely goodies – A box of Red Label Tea Bags, Del Rivo Orange Juice, Moser Roth Chocolate and Passions Hand cooked Crisps. Mmmm I also received some Mamia Maxi Nappies & Wipes but I’ll going to review them at a later date once Ryan has tried and tested them properly. And a special Lacura Wrinkle Stop treat just for me which I will also do separately.
Passions Hand cooked Crisps were awarded Gold at the Great Taste Awards 2011. They definitely deserved it! So tasty and deliciously crunchy. I was given a Sea Salted flavour to try which isn’t what i would normally buy but they were very nice. Not too salty but just enough to give them a good flavour. They were nice and fresh with a fabulous crunch when you bit into them. I really enjoyed them. The quality of crisp was excellent, I may have to go get some more and check out what other flavours they have too.
My favourite treat was the Moser Roth Chocolate which was delicious, if I do say so myself. I was sent both the Milk Chocolate and Caramel bars to try. I was happy enough when I thought they were just one big chocolate bar but I was then pleasantly surprised when I opened them to find they were actually 4 smaller – individually wrapped bars. How perfect, this way there was one of all of us. The chocolate was lovely, very creamy and so sweet i could have eaten them all by myself. I didn’t of course because that would be greedy lol I really enjoyed the taste of both the varieties but my favourite had to be the Caramel as it was just soooo good. Delicious smooth and creamy chocolate with tiny, crunchy pieces of yummy caramel inside. It was so nice. I definitely understand why the Moser Roth Chocolate range has been recommended by BBC Good Food. After it tasting so good I was thinking it was going to be quite expensive to buy, oh my. Was I wrong! In fact it’s only 99p a pack – WoW I need more of these. Such great quality for such a small price. I’m amazed.After all that chocolate and crisps i needed a refreshing drink, good job I’d been sent some delicious Del Rivo Orange Juice to try too. I poured myself a glass and gave it a quick inspection. Lovely bright orange colour, smelled sweet and looked very smooth. I’m not a huge fan of orange juice but i do like a glass now and again if I’m in the mood for it. This orange juice was lovely, really sweet and juicy and so fresh tasting. It was lovely and smooth, no bits at all. Just the way I like it. After finishing my glass I did give my girls a taste, they emptied their glasses pretty quickly and were also very pleased with it. Delicious and good for you and at great low prices. What more could we possibly ask for?
Diplomat Red Label Round Tea Bags were last on my list to try. They are a special blend of fine teas from some of the world’s best tea plantations, producing a rich, full flavoured and delicious cup of tea. Tea is a natural source of beneficial antioxidants, which can form an important part of a healthy diet. They made a great cuppa, I can tell you.
I was so pleasantly surprised by the high quality and standard of all the Aldi products that have tried so far. The prices are so low that you’d think the quality would be affected but I promise you , it’s not.
The food is good and I’m thinking for my next weekly shop I’m going to have to visit my local Aldi and check out what other fab bargains I can pick up.

Great review. I go shopping at Aldi nearly every week. I love their stonebaked pizzas – they are so nice. I would also recommend the Potatos au gratin or whatever they are called, they are only about 89p and are delicious.
I find the quality of fruit and vegetables at Aldi much better than that of other supermarkets and it is much cheaper! Would recommend trying Aldi if you haven't already.
